From the “Kidnapper Monkey” to a New Mother Again
For many viewers who regularly watch our monkey troop, Mama Monkey SUSAN has become one of the most recognizable and talked-about monkeys. Some viewers even call her the “Kidnapper Monkey” because of her unusual habit of approaching other mothers, grabbing their babies, and carrying them away while running and jumping along the tree branches.
Sometimes, these moments can look a little sad or worrying, especially when the baby monkey appears to want to stay close to its own mother. However, what we see is part of the monkeys’ natural social behavior. The baby monkeys are not being harmed by SUSAN during these everyday interactions. SUSAN may carry, hold, chase, or play with younger babies, and these activities can happen naturally within their troop.
SUSAN’s Story With Baby SUSHI
SUSAN has also experienced motherhood herself.
Last year, SUSAN gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named SUSHI. Mother and daughter were together for several months, and SUSHI became part of the troop’s daily life.
Unfortunately, their story changed when local authorities carried out a monkey relocation operation following complaints from monks at the nearby pagoda about monkeys disturbing them during the day and night.
During the trapping and relocation process, SUSAN was also captured. Fortunately, SUSAN was later released back to the area. Sadly, however, baby SUSHI was not returned with her.
The separation was a difficult chapter in SUSAN’s life, and viewers who had followed her story may remember how special baby SUSHI was.
Welcome Baby SUNNY
Now, after everything SUSAN has experienced, there is a beautiful new chapter in her life.
On August 23, 2026, Mama Monkey SUSAN gave birth again—this time to a cute little baby boy named SUNNY. ❤️🐒
Baby SUNNY has a tiny, adorable face and can be seen staying very close to his mother. After waiting so long to see SUSAN become a mother again, it is wonderful to welcome this precious newborn into the troop.
