About 3B Animals – Life of Monkeys at Phnom Pros & Phnom Srey
Located in the heart of Kampong Cham, Phnom Pros and Phnom Srey are not only well-known cultural landmarks in Cambodia, but also a natural home to a diverse and fascinating community of wild monkeys.
3B Animals was created to share the real, daily lives of these monkeys—capturing their natural behaviors, emotional moments, and unique social structures through respectful and observational storytelling.
🐒 Two Troops, Two Different Worlds
Within this mountain habitat, the monkeys live in two main groups: the pigtail troop and the long-tailed troop. Each troop has its own hierarchy, personalities, and way of life.
👑 The Pigtail Troop – Family, Strength, and Leadership
The pigtail troop is known for its strong family bonds and structured social system. At the heart of this troop is the legendary Berry, often called the “grandma monkey” and widely respected as the queen of the group.
Although Berry is a long-tailed macaque, she leads and influences the pigtail troop—making her story rare and remarkable. Over the years, she has raised many offspring, including Bella, Berron, Berrica, and Berila, building a powerful lineage that continues to grow.
Within the same troop, you will also meet:
- Stephanie – a caring and attentive mother
- Stella – a protective and experienced female
- Their babies, who are constantly learning, playing, and exploring
In this troop, you can often see:
- Mothers teaching babies how to walk and survive
- Strong protection and cooperation among members
- Emotional moments of growth, independence, and bonding
🌳 The Long-Tailed Troop – Energy, Adaptation, and Exploration
The long-tailed troop is active, curious, and highly adaptive to the environment around them. These monkeys are constantly on the move, exploring the forest and interacting with their surroundings.
Key members include:
- Malika – a mother showing natural parenting instincts
- Emily Messy – known for her unique personality and behavior
Their daily life includes:
- Foraging and searching for food
- Social interaction and grooming
- Teaching young monkeys independence through natural behavior
Sometimes, moments may appear emotional—such as when a mother begins to push her baby toward independence—but these are essential parts of survival in the wild.
